Laezi

Læzi, Bureau of Supplies, is a project rooted in a 19th century institutional model: the Bureau of Provisions and Clothing, established 1842, revived in 2019 as a framework for thinking about what functional garments actually need to do. Operating from a depot of three decades of research, observation, and material experimentation, the label treats utilitarian clothing as a subject of genuine inquiry, attending to the particularities and histories embedded in workwear and everyday objects. The results sit at an odd intersection of artisanal craft and a playful engagement with technology, driven by the rhythms of city life. Supplies for daily activity, designed with care for the strange details that make ordinary things worth keeping.
