A Cold Wall* first began as an art project in 2015 and with it, designer Samuel Ross sought to explore the cultural melting pot of the UK. Without an explicit intention to create a fashion line, Ross’s endeavor soon began to generate products that were in direct communication with the narrative of his art. After attracting the attention of Off-White’s Virgil Abloh, Ross went on to produce work that is deeply rooted in the style tribes of the British working classes—a theme he heavily alluded to in his Spring/Summer 2019 collection that explored the sociological aftermath of Brutalism. Ross’s new collaboration with Nike is a call to address environmental issues of sustainability. The team-up offers sportswear that is constructed in Flyweather material, using 50% recycled natural leather fiber.
