Jiyongkim
Sustainability is a cornerstone of the South Korean label JiyongKim. Kim, a Central Saint Martins graduate, launched his brand as a response to the wasteful practices of the fashion industry, using clothing as a medium to highlight pressing environmental issues. Manipulating the garments with ties and ribbons, JiyongKim creates unique and dynamic patterns with months-long exposure to sunlight, rain, and wind to achieve the brand’s signature sun-faded effect. An alternative dyeing method that sidesteps chemical and water waste. Vintage textiles and hardware are reconstructed into drapey and relaxed silhouettes in earthy tones. JiyongKim celebrates the sanctity of nature by bringing slow and sustainable fashion to the forefront.
