AW19

For Fall/Winter 2019, Richard Quinn continues to explore his

fixation with haute couture silhouettes and intrepid patterning,

delivering a collection that is inexhaustible in its presentation of

delicate graphic motifs and intricate configurations.

The pieces are potent in visual interest, their dauntless ornamentation gives

the clothing an audible quality that

stimulates the senses far beyond the eye.

Nostalgic of the 60’s counter-culture, the bold patterning captivates

the collective imagination and alludes to a past of

psychedelic interconnectedness and consciousness.

Creative director Daniel Lee presents his first collection for Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta. For the Fall Winter 2019 collection, the designer delivers lucid pieces that register as an amalgamation of the virtues that stem from human-made craftsmanship and technological innovations—providing an interlude into the infinite potentiality of hybrid forms. The collection’s leather work draws attention to the processes of laser cutting and quilting; the silhouettes feature cutaway edges with clavicle-exposing necklines. Each technique is consistently utilized for both the womenswear and menswear, offering a glimpse into universal forms that are suitable for the human body. By projecting a contemporary sensibility onto the brand, Lee’s new vision functions as a locus of rejuvenation while simultaneously paying homage to an expansive history of tradition.
