Began in 2008 by designer Shangguan zhe, a graduate of Xiamen University, Zhe stayed in his small hometown of Xiamen to reduce distractions and focus on his design, which he hopes will show the world the state of the Chinese design industry: a field currently under renaissance helmed by Shanghai artists, collectives, and designers.
