Hum was founded in Tokyo by designers Tomohiro Sadakiyo & Yuka Inanuma. The brand name Hum came from the word ‘humming’, in the hope that the name lives in people’s memories much like the spontaneous sound of humming. Inspired by history, anthropology and society, they approach design through the art of making and craft, experimenting with new techniques before creating jewelry with a unique appeal. Hum use a unique stone setting technique. Tomohiro, the craftsman, uses a use a tool called “otafuku” to pull the metal towards him rather than away. This Japanese technique results in creating a strong distinguished bright shine to engraved patterns.
